Hot or Not?

New software developments: hot or not?“Hot or not? In our branche this is a question which you can ask almost every month about a new development. So, that is exactly what we do at Sioux. Sioux has a system for knowledge management in which small Expertise Groups analyse a new development and assess whether we, at Sioux, should do something with it. Sioux is not a trend-setter but thanks to our continuous focus on the market we are on the other hand a trend-follower.”

“An actual case is Ruby On Rails, a programming language which is no less than ten times faster than its predecessors, C and C++. According to the Expertise Group an important development which we need to keep track of. At Sioux, with a budget of € 10,000.00, a Technology Scout will then retrieve the latest knowledge about the subject matter, for example by reading books or visiting seminars. He will subsequently share this with our employees and customers. Who would like to receive more information after the session can register for an extensive training which the Technology Scout will provide. We do this about six times a year.”

"Every two months we also organise inspiring, technical lectures by experts about new developments in our domain. These Hot-or-Not sessions are free. Our vision is to further professionalise the profession of embedded software specialists. The innovative topics help to develop software faster and more reliable. It is our way to contribute to increasing the productivity of our region."

“At Sioux sharing knowledge, innovating and developing yourself are not values without engagement. We continuously want to improve ourselves, but I do consider it important that people personally select the way to shape this. There should be an intrinsic motivation.”
