Sioux - Telecom - experienced Embedded Software Engineer

You perform in a team of software engineers, interacting with project managers and technical customer contacts. Your responsibilities include participating in feasibility studies to define the software architecture for new embedded gateways and services:

customer requirement analysis
translation of high-level specifications into a detailed software design strategy
provide input for software development plans

Software development for next generation gateway platforms by steering the definition, design and implementation of embedded application SW in C/C++ using advanced tools and real-time operating systems (embedded Linux, RTEMS).

Through a focus on the finished article and adjusted structures, an optimal development environment is created for consumer products. The development is done in a project-oriented matrix organisation, which is dynamically adapted to the high-speed market and product development needs.

Short international business trips are possible.

Profile

master Computer Science/Electronics/Informatics or Engineer IT/Electronics
relevant experience in embedded software development for at least 3 years
Dutch, fluent English is mandatory.

Your technical skills:

Programming languages: C/C++
Operating systems: Linux, RTEMS
Development environment: Linux/Unix, ClearCase, zsh, bash, …
Software concepts: multi-threading, network programming, client-server applications
Toolchain: GNU (gcc, gdb), Lauterbach/JTAG
Networking: knowledge of data communication concepts and stacks
VOIP development: SIP, MGCP, H323, VOIP DSP drivers
Optional: Cell phone networks: 3G, GPRS, UMTS, RANAP, SS7, SCCP

Do you recognise yourself in the following?

a strong passion for technique and (embedded) software.
an Industrial Engineer/Civil Engineer education or graduated in Informatics supplemented with IT trainings.
experience with languages and environments like C, C++, C#, Visual Studio, Java and .NET.
familiar with (real-time) operating systems like Windows, (embedded) Linux, Unix, VxWorks and pSOS.
comfortable in modern development methods and concepts (UML, architecture), life cycle models (V model), test techniques and development processes (CMM).
and project management concepts between the ears.
